Being born into a family of nobility, Zhong Hui has always been praised for being a prodigious child with many great fore comings for the future. Excelling most at strategic planning and calligraphy, Zhong Hui was the idealistic son that would successfully take over his father’s position one day. Being praised and looked up at so often, he became arrogant and believed that he had the potential to beat anyone else and that his strategies had no fault to them. Leaving his mother and being introduced into battle at the young age of 19, he quickly learned how his strategies would weave into the war between his enemies. He also learned that sometimes although his plans were flawless, the soldiers that he tried to guide were not. The only times that his strategic battles failed were when the soldiers and captains failed to meet their requirements in order for the plan to work. He thought that everyone was incompetent and useless especially when his war methods failed to prevail. He has never blamed himself to this day, brushing his mistakes off his own shoulder and blaming them on the faults of other people.. That’s when his opinions of people working under him began to disintegrate. He thought that they were merely tools that the rich and capable were supposed to utilize in order to build a better tomorrow for the people of Jin.
On his second year of working in the army alongside his father, he met Deng Ai where many officers took on his side because of his experience and capabilities in battle. Zhong Hui could not understand why many preferred Deng Ai over him and swore to pass Deng Ai which is what continuously fuels him to improve. The one thing that he did not take into consideration was their age gap and experience levels. So Zhong Hui pushed himself harder and harder to outmatch Deng Ai and make his father proud. It was only a few years after that, that Zhong Hui’s father was badly injured in his line of duty and would no longer be needed in the field of battle. This outraged Zhong Hui and caused him to work twice as hard to make sure people knew he deserved his father’s position in the army. He would do whatever it takes to put the kingdom of Jin in its rightful place – the top of all kingdoms.
Realizing later on that he’d need to catch up with his studies instead of focusing on warfare, Zhong Hui secretly resumed his studies with different teachers when he had free time. Times like these were when he thought of his mother gracefully brushing ink into long sheets of paper was when he thought he could have taken her advice at an earlier age. Studying helped Zhong Hui focus on what he needed to accomplish and he found out that it helped him when he was to come up with battle arrangements in the future. Striving even more to impress the higher ups he manipulated people who thought were his friends or acquaintances which is why Zhong Hui is pretty much disliked. The only person whom he shares a close bond is with Jiang Wei. Upon befriending Jiang Wei however, he thought it’d be a good chance to rise up against Sima Yi and took the chance to join the Wei army. Soon enough his reputation as the man who manipulates others and only thinks of himself was spread throughout the Wei kingdom. This caused an uproar and soon he was kicked off his position in the Wei. Zhong Hui didn’t have a choice but to come back to the Jin army that shook their heads as he came back. To this day, he doesn’t like to think about the past and blames his naïve thoughts as he was quite young at the time.
When he is not in the middle of a fight, Zhong Hui likes to study on his own or with a few teachers by him. Other than that it is said that he doesn’t come out and greet others, but secludes himself in his resting area, occupying himself with something new to learn. He doesn’t like to miss an opportunity when it is available and thus doesn’t like wasting time. Other than studying you can find him training himself with swords and such as he isn’t as experienced with weaponry as he is with strategic planning.

Thinking about the past or coming up with new ideas, Zhong Hui will often look out into the sky or into the surroundings of nature and get lost into his thoughts so much that someone would have to speak loudly or shake him a little. On his spare time, he always remembers to send his mother letters, no matter how short they are just to reassure her that he’s doing fine.
