Cai Wenji - An advocate for tranquility, Cai Wenji is a humble and altruistic soul. Deeply moved by the sorrows she sees around her, she is empathetic to other people's strifes and desires to impart hope to them. Her bravery in battle is primarily for those she feels are less fortunate than her. In reality, she severely doubts her strengths and fears combat. To ease her stress, Cai Wenji may compose melodies or poems. Her art is her alternative means of inspiring courage and peace of mind to herself and others.
She originally joined the Wei due to the fact she owes her life to Cao Cao, who rescued her from a dire situation on the battlefield. Since then, she has dedicated her life to repaying him her debt. She has a strong dislike and almost hatred for Sun Ce who has killed her father and husband in battle, unknowingly to him. When the Wei joined the Han army, the musician was enchanted with the dancing Mystic, Diao Chan's word. This caused her to join the Divine Dynasty instead of remaining the the Wei, although she still feels indebted to Cao Cao, himself. She is a filial daughter to her peace-loving father. Cai Wenji shares her father's sentiments of avoiding needless conflict and protecting order. Jiang Wei - The son of a reputed general who excels in martial arts and scholarly studies. Steadfast and a bit hot-blooded, Jiang Wei is a formal perfectionist who strives to always act his best. Lionizing Zhuge Liang as "Prime Minister", he hopes to someday make his mentor proud. Though competent in war and strategies, he suffers from a slight inferiority complex when he experiences failure and is known for profusely apologizing to Zhuge Liang when this occurs. However, these setbacks do not completely dwarf his spirit and he is always eager to learn from his mistakes. He is depicted as a bud of fresh talent; depending on the scenario, he is either too green to overstep his idol's shadow or is more than capable of leading Shu after Zhuge Liang's death. A faithful student to his mentor, he sometimes forgets his composure and zealously shouts his defense for Zhuge Liang if someone berates him. Zhuge Liang, though appreciating his enthusiasm, may chide him to restrain himself. Aside from the Prime Minister, Jiang Wei is respectful towards his other allies in Shu, addressing them with the terms "master" or "lady". Since he is to take his mentor's place in the later battles of the era, he is often a rival to Sima Yi as they clash wits at Wu Zhang Plains. He also holds a minor rivalry between him and Lu Xun, the former mainly denouncing the latter's "mistaken" reputation. Sun Shangxiang - Known as the lady of Wu, her father is Sun Jian and she is Sun Ce and Sun Quan's younger sister. Taught martial arts from an early age, Sun Shangxiang is a girl who wants to prove her worth in battle. Sun Shangxiang is an upbeat and independent woman who is considered to be a tomboy by many warriors. She is loving and loyal to her family, slightly respecting her brother Sun Ce over Sun Quan. Always eager to lend a helping hand, she frequently wants to show her worth in battle, which usually worries her father and brothers. However, they're proud that she shares her family's dignity and enthusiasm. She's addressed as "Princess" (姫様) by Wu's vassals, only being called by name by her family and Liu Bei. Wang Yuanji - Despite her conservative and quiet countenance, Wang Yuanji is a caring and gentle woman to the weak and innocent. A perceptive woman who thinks of the greater good for her country, she rarely has tolerance for procrastination or excessiveness. Whenever possible she seeks to reach quick, efficient, and decisive conclusions to conflicts. Although she may seem like a passive stoic, Wang Yuanji is gregarious enough to congratulate her comrades with an open smile. If Wang Yuanji confesses her genuine feelings to someone dear to her, she becomes rather bashful with her sincerity. With her late husband Sima Zhao, however, she used to spare him no sympathy and was rather curt with him. More often than not, she was usually patronizing him to take responsibility for his actions. As she watched him mature through his struggles, Wang Yuanji genuinely accepted him and his faults. She usually displayed her concern for him indirectly, her cold shoulder belying the respect she had for him. Both Sima Yi and Sima Shi were aware of her ex-lover's faults, asking her to not misunderstand the Sima family due to Sima Zhao's behavior. Zhong Hui - He is described as a young, studious man who has the respectable ability to instantly read the battlefield. He believes himself to be an impeccable and almighty genius who is incapable of committing a single error in his strategies. Zhong Hui accepts his failures as a temporary lapse in judgment and will do everything in his power to not place blame on himself. Often bragging that he is withholding his true potential, he jumps at the chance to outwit his adversaries and to punish those who don't agree with him. Due to his arrogance and spiteful demeanor, there aren't many fellow officers whom trust him. His pride, however, wilts when he expresses his intimate adoration for someone and he is unexpectedly bashful. Opposite of Deng Ai in every respect, he has seething resentments for the veteran. His personal reasons for opposing Sima Zhao is not explicitly stated, but it's been implied that he rebels due to selfishness and pride for his own family. Valued for his passionate studious nature, he befriends Jiang Wei and attempts to rise against Sima Yi which causes him to briefly deflect to the Wei army, only to return to the Jin shortly after. |
