Born from legends of the ancient past the divine beings known as the Mystics were created. These are being that watched over the mortal realm, most wanting to protect the - by comparison - defenseless creatures. Not everyone felt this way, however, there were those who wanted to conquer and rule over the weaker species, and there were others who were simply indifferent about it. There were even those who were so interested in humans that they wished to interact with them.
Diao Chan and Yang Hui were two in particular who took a great interest in the creatures of the mortal realm. The two would often frequent various warriors in the different kingdoms, posing as mortal warriors themselves. During one particular visit to the human world, Diao Chan happened to miss a great battle happening back in the land of divine. Han Junjie had grown wary of simply watching and started a war against the protectors of these pathetic creatures. He charged his way toward the gate connecting the two worlds, coming face to face with the protectors: Fu Xi, Nu Wa, and Taigong Wang.
It was then that a battle of epic proportions ensued, and would last for many weeks to come. It would ultimately end in the defeat of the three protectors causing Sun Wukong and Sanzang Fushi to quickly react. Yang Hui's alter-ego, Huang Quan, would take over, interrupting and defeating the two. After having had witnessed the mighty prowess of Han Junjie, Huang Quan and decided to devote herself to her new Lord.
As Diao Chan returned, she witnessed as the two leered over the defeated Mystics, using both of their own powers to turn them into artifacts and scatter them across China. They then made their way to the mortal realm, unaware of Diao Chan's presence, leaving the poor girl to figure out what to do on her own.
